It doesn't get any further west than this. Follow Grand Avenue far enough, and you'll run smack into these communities, situated along the St. Louis River. There's plenty of places to rent here, as well as a number locally-owned places to grab a bite or a beer. Chambers Grove Park is a popular place for the kidlets to picnic and play. Summer or winter, you'll find active types hiking, snowshoeing or skiing along the river or in nearby Jay Cooke State Park, home of the beloved Swinging Bridge. Fond du Lac, incidentally, is Duluth's oldest community.
